Hi everybody,

we are a Czech family of four (two adults, two teenage chldren :) ) and we are looking for accommodation in Tara national park (not too expensive). It would be very helpful to have some tips as for what to see from the beautiful nature in 3 days in late August  (we are going to have bicycles)

Thanks for any help, contact and tip

Monika

For accommodation, you should always make it clear what is "not too expensive". Anyway, for cycling, please find a full map of all trails on and around Tara at the following link: http://pedja.supurovic.net/karta-biciklistickih-staza-zlatibor-mokra-gora-tara You should also be able to get it in print on Tara. Welcome to Serbia and I hope you'll enjoy your stay.

P.S. I've just found some cheap accommodation options here - http://www.selo.co.rs/listing_browse.php?city=Bajina+Ba%C5%A1ta but I have never been in any of those.

There is plenty of accommodation on Tara  -- many people rent houses -- and it is generally of decent quality. Particularly in summer, when you don't have to care about heating and getting there. Since you go in relatively low season, you will probably find it at reasonable prices.

Two main locations on the mountain are Kaluđerske bare on north, closer to Bajina Bašta and Mitrovac on south. The former is better equipped with facilities and easier to reach, so I generally recommend it.

Check out the portal http://www.tara-planina.com . They offer a lot of information and a range of private accommodation, both on Kaluđerske bare and on Mitrovac. Now, there is no English version, but as Czechs you can certainly understand a lot with some effort.  :) We rented this house some six or seven years ago, and it was New Year, so I wouldn't know the price now (it was OK for six of us). I don't think that you can err much wherever you choose (well, expect some language barrier in negotiation, most of them only offer phone contacts).

Once you climb there, it's a beautiful plateau suitable for cycling and hiking. If you're nature lovers, I think you made a great choice. I wish you a good trip and a great time!

Thanks, that's gonna halp a lot!

I have already found some nice wooden challets (vilas)  in Zaovine,  Predov Krst and tried to request availability or price but I have not received any reply yet. Shall I try Czech instead of English?  :)

We also want  to visit Mecavnik and see the river Drina.

Well, I don't expect a high level of English from house owners there, but if they want to rent it, I'd expect a basic reply.

If you don't get a reply, send me a personal message or post here, I could try to arrange something for you by phone (it's inconvenient to be a middleman though, in the end you could make a deal inconvenient for either side...)
